Hello Ed,
I have no more information than you can find on the internet.
See http://www.letsgodigital.org/html/events/PHOTOKINA-2004/news/mamiya/ZD_en.html
10000 Euros is unofficially indicated there. Not sure whether that is the ZD or the ZD Back. If it is the ZD camera I will have half a dozen myself - only jesting - but one would be wonderful.

Thanks Alan,
Great news, because I plan on switching from Nikon to the AFD. I hesitated before because I use my shift nikkor (i.e. 28mm PC) a lot, and I didn't know Mamiya has a shift lens as well.
Now that the ZD digital back is out, looks like there is a complete system for me (ADF+50mm Shift+ZD digital back).
BTW, would you also know how much the ZD digital back will cost?
Ed

Hello Ed,
Yes it can be used on the 645 AFD, but I have never used it in conjunction with a digital back - not as I envisage any problems. Metering options are "stopped-down" aperture priority or manual.

Can anyone tell me whether the 50mm f/4.0 Shift lens can be used on the AFD camera?
I don't mind losing auto-focus as long as it works.
Plan to use it with a digital back for architectural shots.
Thanks for your help.
