Yes, you should look over the camera through the polariser.

I have found that when usind the Mamiya polarising filter on my M7II, if you look through the range finder, through the filter and rotate the filter, at a certain point it goes dramatically dark. Is this the point of mamimum polorisation or is it best to look over the camera and only through the filter? I know this is a bit of a garbled message, but have a go if you have one!
