Mamiya setup for taking photos of divers

Mamiya UK Forum: General: Mamiya setup for taking photos of divers

I prefer to use a hand held camera, so 645 Pro would be the way to go. As for the choice between flash and fast film, I will try using a slow film with flash, without a motorwind, and a fast film with motorwind without flash and see which has the most pleasing results.

Thank you for taking the time to impart some advice. I appreciate it.

If you want the larger format negative why not use an RZ67 with motor attached I think its is the same speed as the po tl if not mabe even faster.

Bernadette,

Yes, the 645 Pro TL with the WG401 power drive will be the most suitable. However, the wind-on rate is approximately 2 frames per second and if any flash can keep pace with that, it will only be with a very low power output. Possibly the best option is to use a fast film.

I am a digital artist who normally uses a Mamiya 7 II to take my photographs that I work with in Photoshop.

I am on a project for my own personal work, where I want to take photos of board divers. Because the figures will be moving very fast through the air, I would ideally like to use a camera with a motorwind and also flash. I think I am right in thinking that the largest format camera in the Mamiya range with a motorwind is 645 Pro.

I am not an experienced photographer, the use of photography for my work is very sporadic, I spend 95% of my time using Photoshop. I would appreciate it if someone could give me some tips of what equipment I should use to enable me to get the best shots. At this stage I do not yet have a venue sorted out, but I am hoping to take photographs at a diving class, so for now I am getting started on the preparation of my equipment.

Is it possible to use a flash whilst using a motorwind on a 645 Pro? What's the ideal set up? Any useful tips greatly appreciated.

I will sort out the film and filters when I know what my lighting will be like.

TIA
