Yes, it is the CdS cell sensor and it should work out okay the way you are using it.

I have just bought a cds porrofinder for my c330s prof and have a very dumb question: when it is in the ON position and metering the light, there is a big black circle over the centre of the lens which is on the end of a black 'arm' which appears when i switch the cds porrofinder on. is this normal- i guess it's the actual light (spot) meter itself, so if i focus with cds OFF then switch on and measure the light and shoot the exposure while it is ON, it will work out???????
